Throughout history, art has been used as an accessible tool for communication, raising awareness about social issues, and affecting positive change. To demonstrate how art can be used as a powerful mechanism for expression, community conversations and change, the University of Michigan’s annual Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) 2020 Summit is themed: ‘Arts + Social Change: Building an Anti-Racist World through the Arts.’

The award-winning documentary film, Me, The “Other” has been made available to the entire U-M campus this academic year through the U-M MiVideo streaming platform. Staff, students and members of public are invited to attend this year’s Summit electronically through a Zoom session on Wednesday, October 21, 2020 from 7:00 – 8:30pm EST. The panel will feature cast members: Celia, Hussain, Kit, Taylor, Veronica; soundtrack composer, Levi Taylor; and co-producer/director, Shidan Majidi. The Associate Producers of the film, Sanam Arab, Jane Berliss-Vincent and Steve Vinson will lead the panel sessions. Registration is free through the link: myumi.ch/GklPP

You can submit questions for the director, cast, and other panelists in advance here: myumi.ch/O4DWw.
