Co-producer Awarded Faculty of the Year Award

It’s no surprise that Me, The “Other”’s co-producer, Dr. Shahrzad Mirafzali, was chosen by the student body at Touro College of Dental Medicine at New York Medical College for TCDM’s Preclinical Faculty of the Year Award. "For as long as I've known her, Shahrzad has been relentless in her passion and commitment to service. She dedicates herself tirelessly to every project and everyone in the process," wrote Shidan Majidi, MTO's director and co-producer. “Back in 2016, I received a phone call from Shahrzad, and our mutual concern for how our communities were becoming overwhelmed by a sense of fear and prejudice of the "other" fueled the inspiration for the documentary film which we proudly co-produced. From the moment she made this commitment, she didn't waste a second and started pulling talent and resources in a miraculously short period of time to realize our vision for the film. Her intelligence, meticulous attention to every detail, and enormous heart are a gift to every person and project she dedicates herself to and this film would have never materialized without her generous soul."

Dr Shahrzad Mirafzali was nominated by TCDM students and recognized at last week’s White Coat Ceremony for “her unwavering commitment to training our students and for her guidance and support in preparing them for success as they enter clinical healthcare.” Me, The “Other” joins Touro College of Dental Medicine at New York Medical College in warmly congratulating Shahrzad!
