Shahrzad Maghsoudloo Mirafzali - Co-Producer

Dr. Shahrzad Maghsoudloo Mirafzali is an Assistant Professor of Dental Medicine at the Touro College of Dental Medicine (TCDM) in New York; and also the Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry. She is the recipient of TCDM's 2021 Preclinical Faculty of the Year Award nominated by TCDM students and recognized for her unwavering commitment to training students and for her guidance and support in preparing them for success as they enter clinical healthcare. "Twenty years ago, I walked into the dental operatory with my staff all wearing their white lab coats. My patient only glanced at me and turned to my male nurse and said 'Hi.' Because I was a female, he assumed that I was the nurse and he was the doctor. At that moment, I realized that all my life I had been the “other.” Whether it was because I was a female in a male dominated field, or because I had a long name that few could properly pronounce, or because I had lived in Iran, France, U.S, and China and enjoyed each country and their peoples, or because I am a Bahá’í. It all didn’t matter. I only smiled at him, knowing that I was going to do my best for him and his oral health.” Shahrzad currently lives between NY and MI with 3 kids, 4 cats, 1 dog, and a very loving and patient husband!
